Video game usage: what place do they occupy in our daily lives?

Video games occupy an important place in entertainment, but are sometimes demonized as victims of clichés such as addiction or extreme violence.
Yet video games can reach a wide audience, and can be used for educational purposes in the service of social and professional causes. These are known as “serious games” or “impact games”, and are increasingly becoming part of our daily lives.
Video game usage for the benefit of society
With the growing popularity of video games, we’re seeing a shift in public and organizational perception. Notable examples include serious games such as Bad News or Electioneering, which raise awareness of the spread of false information, or Reset Earth, a simulation game developed by the UN to raise awareness of the need to protect the ozone layer.
As a digital medium, video games can convey these messages in a more engaging way, reaching an often younger audience. It also becomes a powerful vector for stimulating exchanges between players around their gaming experience.Usage des jeux vidéo : quelle place occupent-ils dans notre quotidien ?
With our next simulation game, Roots of Tomorrow, we want to raise public awareness of agroecology. Our aim is to highlight environmentally-friendly and sustainable farming practices.
Use of video games in the workplace
Video games are finding more and more applications in the professional world. Many companies are integrating game mechanisms (interactions, experiences, gamification) as learning or training tools because they are so effective. Why does it work? Because, unlike traditional training courses, games allow you to experiment and immerse yourself in new worlds, far removed from the real world.
One of our studio’s latest projects, Challenger Deep, offers a futuristic experience to strengthen team cohesion and encourage innovation among employees, with games inspired by escape games.
Video games and serious games are gaining in popularity and are being integrated into more and more fields. What’s your next challenge?
