Roots of Tomorrow: the next update on field crop farming in Eastern France

Mise à jour région Grand Est

In a world where environmental issues are becoming increasingly important, Gamabilis is proud to announce an upcoming update to Roots of Tomorrow. This new version, which will be presented at the Salon International de l’Agriculture (SIA) in Paris at the end of February, incorporates educational and agro-ecological innovations designed to raise players’ awareness of the challenges of modern agriculture.

Enriched exploration in Eastern France

One of the game’s eight explorations focuses on the Grand Est region, known for its large-scale cereal crops. In this update, we have collaborated with key partners such as the interprofessional organization Terres Univia and the experts at Terres Inovia. Together, we have incorporated elements that reflect the region’s agricultural realities and the challenges facing farmers.

New oil and protein seeds

One of the main innovations in this update is the addition of new oilseed and protein seeds. These crops play an important role in diversifying crop rotation and reducing dependence on chemical inputs. By integrating these seeds into the game, we aim to raise players’ awareness of the importance of crop rotation and the positive impact it can have on soil preservation and biodiversity.

The carbon cycle issue

Another fundamental aspect of this update is the introduction of the carbon cycle. Players will have the opportunity to explore how agricultural practices can influence soil carbon storage. By integrating these elements, Roots of Tomorrow aims to educate players on the importance of carbon management in combating climate change and promoting sustainable agriculture.

A serious game for a committed pedagogy

We firmly believe that serious games can play an essential role in contemporary education. By using engaging game mechanics, Roots of Tomorrow enables players to understand the challenges of modern agriculture while having fun. This update is an important step in our mission to make learning about agroecology accessible and interactive.

Partnerships for real impact

We would like to thank our partners, Terres Univia and Terres Inovia, for their expertise and support in the development of this update. Their in-depth knowledge of farming practices and environmental issues has been essential in ensuring that our game reflects the reality of the sector.

Presentation at SIA

We’re looking forward to presenting this new version of Roots of Tomorrow at SIA 2025. It’s an opportunity to share our vision of sustainable agriculture and engage in discussions about the future of our planet. We invite all those with a passion for agriculture, ecology and video games to come and discover the innovations we’ve put in place.
